Ray Eugene Nagel

August 21, 1921 — February 19, 2003

Montevideo

Ray Nagel died Wednesday, February 19, 2003 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 81.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 22, 2003 at 3:30 P.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald McKee and Rev. Gregory Gabnriel officiating. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening and with the family from 5 - 6 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo

Raymond Eugene Nagel was born on August 21, 1921 in Montevideo, MN to Charles and Mabel (Botten) Nagel.  He was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church and attended rural schools.  On October 15, 1944 he was united in marriage to Helen Eide at the Our Saviors Lutheran Parsonage.  He farmed for over 30 years west of Montevideo before moving into Montevideo in 1981.  He worked at the Wegdahl Elevator for 13 years and was a very conscientious caretaker at the EDA Apartments for 6 years.  He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, enjoyed his work, camping, fishing and visits from his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; one daughter, Rita Jans and her husband Harold of Montevideo; three grandchildren: Scott Jans and his wife Angie of Granite Falls, MN, Stephanie Jans of Brooklyn Center, MN and Stacy Rodeberg and her husband Kris of Montevideo; five great-grandchildren: Kylie, Sam and Caleb Jans and Tyler and Brandon Rodeberg; one sister, Frances Velde of Montevideo; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Patty Nagel; one brother, Vernon Nagel; and one sister, Helen Nelson.
