Raymond Golden

July 9, 1930 — August 2, 2015

Raymond Golden of Danvers died Sunday, August 2, 2015 at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital at the age of 85.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Big Bend Lutheran Church.  Rev. Kerry Selseth will officiate and burial will be in the Big Bend Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday August 5  from 5-7:00 PM at Big Bend Lutheran Church . There will also be visitation at the church for one hour before services.

Raymond John Golden was born on July 9, 1930 in Mandt Township in Chippewa County, MN to Ruben and Hanstena (Schuerer) Golden.  In 1939, his family moved to Big Bend Hagen.  Raymond was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church.  He attended country school then started helping farmers throughout the years.  He worked several years for Larson Gravel.  He did custom combining and corn shelling.  Ray enlisted in the Army from 1951 to 1952.  He was a lifetime member of the Milan Legion.

On February 12, 1955, Raymond was united in marriage to Inez Perseke.  They celebrated 60 years on February 12, 2015.  Raymond and Inez were blessed with 7 children.  Raymond belonged to several antique tractor clubs.  He also enjoyed going to auctions, threshing shows, collecting Oliver tractors, and toy farm machinery.  Ray enjoyed being a member of  several  tractor clubs.  He farmed his entire life.  One of his favorite hobbies was putting puzzles together.

He is survived by his wife, Inez; five sons: Alan (Dixie) Golden of Benson, MN, Wayne (Laurie) Golden of Danvers, MN, Lyle Golden of Ortonville, MN, Leroy (Carrie) Golden of Danvers, MN, and John (Kari) Golden of Appleton, MN; two daughters: June (Charlie) Dahlgren of Onamia, MN and Lisa (Dave) Ward of Colorado Springs, CO; 14 grandchildren: Adam, Erik (Jennifer), and Darin Golden; Gail (Jimmy) Peroddy; Kristi Dahlgren; Daniel (Rachel) Golden; Cari (Jason) Remmen; Paul Golden; Alexander and Isabelle Golden; Justin and JeanMarie Golden, and Amanda and Chandler Ward; Step-Grandchildren: Tyler and Jon Nielsen and Michael Edwards; Great-Grandchildren: AnnieLisa, Breeanne, Lucy, and Logan Golden; two sisters: Gloria Johnson and Maryann (Dave) Weckwerth; and many nieces and nephews.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents; a great-granddaughter, Hannah Golden; and two brothers-in-law, Oliver Tvedt and Wimpy Johnson.
