Raymond Eugene Gordon was born December 21, 1954 in Valley Springs, SD to Rodney and Margaret (Hamersma) Gordon.  He was baptized and confirmed into the Christian Faith.  Raymond graduated from Dawson – Boyd High School in 1972.  After high school Raymond enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was united in marriage to Cindy Storlien on March 4, 1978 at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson, and to this unity one daughter was born, Danielle.

Raymond worked for Union Pacific Railroad for 40 years.  He enjoyed golfing, crafting golf clubs, playing softball and weight lifting. However, his real passion was spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed helping his brother, Lynn with the bees. Most of all he loved spending time with his daughter and her family. Raising his daughter on his own, they formed a very special and unbreakable bond. Their time together was always filled with laughter and love. When Danielle and her husband, Luke began to have children, he found his new title of “Papa Ray” to be that of the highest honor. Ray would brag to anyone he could about Nola, Rogan, and Elora. He would take them for days at a time in Dawson where they spent the days at the park, the pool, and the Dairy Queen. There is nothing that he would not do for his Grandchildren.

Raymond is survived by his daughter, Danielle (Luke) Mattson of Howard Lake, MN; grandchildren, Nola, Rogan, and Elora Mattson; siblings, Lynn (Dian) Wiebe, David Wiebe, Roger (Elaine) Gordon, Bev Johnson, Nancy (Orlin Julius) Feick, Donna Bathke, Diane Christiansen, and Lori (Bob) Belsaas; mother-in-law, Marian Storlien; and several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cindy in 1980; father-in-law, Orgean Storlien; brothers-in-law, Norb Bathke and Ron Christiansen; nephews, Jordan and Drake; and niece, Lisa.
