Raymond Larson, of Watson, died on Sunday, March 4, 2012 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 88. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. Jevnaker Lutheran Church in rural Montevideo with Rev. Marie Eckberg officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Raymond T Larson was born on July 9, 1923 in Chippewa Co., MN to Roy and Mamie (Holte) Larson. He as baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church. He grew up in the Watson area and graduated from Milan High School in 1942. He served in the US Army during World War II, serving in Europe. On August 3, 1944 he was united in marriage to Charlotte Pederson at the Big Bend Lutheran Parsonage. They lived near Big Bend, Maynard and Montevideo area before moving near Watson in 1963. He farmed, worked at the Watson Elevator and worked for the Corps of Engineers before retiring. He was currently a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home. He was a member of the VFW Post in Montevideo and the Milan American Legion Post. He enjoyed pets, playing cards, watching television, watching baseball, driving around the countryside and Lac qui Parle Lake, and in his younger days umpiring softball games. He is survived by two children: Kim (and Paula) Larson of Chesterfield, VA and Tammy Larson of Watson, MN; two grandchildren: Amy (and Jim) Roberts and Wendy (and Alex) Sentyrz; four great grandchildren: Hannah and Nick Roberts and Gabrielle and Genessa Sentyrz; a brother, Les (and Lorraine) Larson of Bella Vista, Arkansas; two sisters, Fern Mettling and Rudella Schroeder, both of Hinckley, MN and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Charlotte in 2003; and a son, David Larson.
