Raymond Larson

December 6, 1922 — March 28, 2009

Raymond Larson, of rural Milan, died on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the Veterans Hospital in St. Cloud, MN at the age of 86. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at 1:30 P.M. at the Big Bend Lutheran Church with Rev. Jay Grave officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening with the family being present from 5 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Raymond Sylvester Larson was born on December 6, 1922 in Chippewa County, MN to Martin and Genora (Barduson) Larson. He was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church. He attended rural schools and Appleton Public Schools. On December 10, 1944 he was united in marriage to Arlene Torgeson at the Big Bend Lutheran Church. He served in the US Army, serving in Japan and the Philippines. He farmed for many years and worked at the Midland CO-OP Station in Milan and Appleton, andserved as its manager, and also was a school bus driver. He was a member of Big Bend Lutheran Church, the American Legion and the VFW. He was a big Twins fan and enjoyed fishing, hunting, bird watching, feeding the wildlife and doing yard work. He is survived by two sons: Gary Larson and his wife Kathy of Willmar, MN and Dale Larson and his wife Beth of Chanhassen, MN; seven grandchildren: John Larson, Mark Larson, Christine Hunt, Eric Larson, Adria Larson, Cole Larson and Angie Staut; thirteen great-grandchildren: Brady, Halee, Taylor, Alex, Emily, Matthew, Kaitlyn, Sara, Lauren, Noah, Ross, Michaela and Seth; a sister, Helen (and Carl) Carlson of Willmar, MN; a sister-in-law, Burnette Larson of Milan, MN; as well as by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arlene in 2007; and a brother, Wallace Larson.
