Raynold Evenson, of Montevideo, died on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 81. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald S. McKee and Rev. Tim Wheatley officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5-7 P.M. and with a prayer service at 6:30 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Raynold Edwin Evenson was born on April 6, 1930 in Swenoda Township of Swift County, MN to Edwin and Emilie (Gilsrud) Evenson. He was baptized on May 4, 1930 and later confirmed at Swenoda Lutheran Church. He attended school in rural Swift County. Raynold proudly served his country in the United States Army from July 21, 1954 to July 7, 1956. One month after his discharge, he was united in marriage to Carol Syde on August 4, 1956 at the Maynard Baptist Church. Raynold farmed and worked at the Montevideo Post Office until retiring in 1998. He was a long-time member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, the American Legion and the VFW. Raynold cherished time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin on Lake Amelia and cruising on the pontoon. He was an avid Twins and Vikings fan, rarely missing listening to them on the radio or watching them on television. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and would tinker with anything he could find. He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Carol; two daughters: Debbie (and Neil) Larson and Denise (and Keith) Bangsund of Montevideo; a son, Brad (and Sherri) Evenson of Long Prairie, MN; grandchildren: Kristi (Cory) Stanley, Beth (Josh) Dack and Leesa Larson, Brock and Jenna Bangsund of Montevideo and Austin and Jaden Evenson of Long Prairie; great-grandchildren: Brynn, Raegan and Ross Stanley and Cooper and Brody Dack; sisters: Amy Stay of St. Paul, MN, Violet Jerve of Plymouth, MN, LaVina Evenson of Minnetonka, MN and Mardell (Keith) Kennedy of Bloomington, MN; a brother, Dean (Shirley) Evenson of Benson, MN; sisters-in-law: Marjorie Evenson of Benson, MN and Virginia Evenson of Montevideo, as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; a great grandson, Colson Dack; brothers: Lorando, LuVerne, Orel and Floyd Evenson; and sisters: Viola Norby and Verna Myhre.
