Reginald B. “Pete” Remund was born on July 24, 1916 in Wilmot, SD to Ernest and Anna (Briksel) Remund.  He grew up in Wilmot and graduated from Wilmot H.S. in 1934. He attended Dunwoody Industrial Institute in Minneapolis and worked for Swift’s in Montevideo for several years.  On November 25, 1943, he was united in marriage to Esther Erickson in Montevideo.  He served a short stint in the Army and was in the Army Reserves during World War II, and worked for a time in the shipyards in Seattle, WA  building Liberty Ships. After the war, they moved  to Wilmot, SD, where he ran a grocery store with his brother Mike.  Following the birth of their daughter Mary in 1948, Pete and Esther briefly tried their fortunes in California before returning to MN.  They lived in  New Ulm and Arlington, MN before moving to Pipestone, MN in 1953  when he took a job as an executive with Red Owl. His position with Red Owl took him to Fargo, ND and in 1959  to Excelsior, MN, living there until 1971. In 1966 he went to work at Nash-Finch, where he worked until retiring in 1979.  After retirement they lived in Milbank, SD and maintained a lake cottage at Hartford Beach on Big Stone Lake.  They lived for awhile in Hutchinson, MN before moving to  Edina in 1995 to be closer to Mary’s family.  He has been a resident of Texas Terrace in St. Louis Park for the past several months.  Pete was very proud of having earned his pilot’s licence in the early 1940's.  He had been a Mason, enjoyed singing and music - especially big band music, and enjoyed the radio comedy of Jack Benny and Burns and Allen.  He always loved going back to South Dakota where he had many friends and relatives.
