Richard Lyngen, of Green Valley, AZ and formerly of Woodbury, MN, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at St. Marys Hospital in Tucson, AZ at the age of 59. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Rev. Ann Ward will officiate and interment will be at Strombeck Lutheran Cemetery, rural Montevideo. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-6:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Richard Allen Lyngen was born March 13, 1950 at Montevideo, MN the son of Walter and Evenell (Anderson) Lyngen. He was baptized at Salem Lutheran Church in 1950 and confirmed there in 1964. Richard graduated from Montevideo Senior High in 1968 and St. Cloud State University in 1977. He served in the US Air Force from 1969 until 1972. He was united in marriage with Shelby Setser August 8, 1970 at Salem Lutheran Church. They lived in Angeles City, Republic of Phillipines, Colorado Springs CO, Seattle, WA, Minneapolis and then Woodbury, MN. Richard worked as a financial analyst and portfolio manager. He enjoyed dancing, hunting, fishing, theater, and travel. They moved to Green Valley, AZ six years ago. He is survived by his wife, Shelby; two children: Sean of Minneapolis, MN and Ian Lyngen of New York, NY; two grandchildren: Elise and Emma Lyngen of Minneapolis, MN; and three brothers: Gary Lyngen of Garretson, SD, Dave Lyngen of Watson, MN and Ron Lyngen of Joliet, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents.
