Richard Timothy Rollins

Richard Rollins, of Granite Falls, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023 at Avera Granite Falls Hospital at the age of 72.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 10:30 AM at United Church of Christ in Granite Falls.  Pastor Cynthia Huse will officiate and burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Richard Timothy Rollins was born August 27, 1950 in Staples, MN to Richard and Lillian (Swecker) Rollins.  He attended and graduated from Motley High School and after graduation attended and graduated from Alexandria Technical College with a degree in law enforcement.  Rich worked in law enforcement for 35 years and was proud to once be the chief of Police of Granite Falls and Sheriff of Yellow Medicine County.  He was united in marriage to Susan Dreier on April 29, 1978.  To this union two daughters were born.  Rich was a veteran of the United States Navy and received his honorable discharge from his service in (1971).  He was a member of the American Legion and United Church of Christ in Granite Falls.  Rich enjoyed hunting, fishing, listening and watching Twins baseball games.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; daughters, Annie (Brian) Bornhorst of Byron, MN and Emily (Timothy) Lyon of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Logan and Katelyn Bornhorst, and Vera and Rosalie Lyon; siblings, Patricia Stokley, Nadine Bittner, Yvonne Jay, James Rollins (Virgina), Joyce Rollins and Bessie Mueller (Michael); and several other extended family and friends.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Lillian.
