Richard Skogrand, of Montevideo, died on Monday, September 30, 2019 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 68.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Jevnaker Lutheran Church, rural Montevideo, with Pastor Marie Eckberg officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Friday, October 4 at Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Richard Lee Skogrand was born on July 12, 1951 in Montevideo to Marlowe and Mildred (Tobiason) Skogrand. He was baptized and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church and attended country school District #294 until the sixth grade. Following country school he attended Milan High School and graduated in 1969. After graduation Richard went to Willmar Vo-Tech for two years as well as Granite Falls Vo-Tech for two years. He farmed for many years on the family farm before working at G & K for 25 years, and then at Wal-Mart until retiring. Richard was a member of Jevnaker Lutheran Church. He enjoyed reading, especially about history, listening to music, old cars, and watching old movies.
Richard is survived by his siblings: Nancy (Bob) Kurtzbein of Montevideo and Dean (Connie) Skogrand of Cottonwood; an aunt, Delores (Don) Cornelius; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and sister, Julie Roder.
