Richard "Rick" Thompson , of Montevideo, died on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 57. Memorial Services will be conducted on Thursday, October 31, at 1:30 P.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Matt Philaya officiating. Interment will be in Strombeck Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:30 - 7:30 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:30 P.M. at the Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Richard Lynn Thompson was born on April 5, 1956 in Montevideo, MN to Virgil and Arlene (Agre) Thompson. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd, MN and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson, MN. He became an Eagle Scout in Troop 322 in Dawson and served as an Assistant Scoutmaster. He graduated from Dawson High School in 1974 and from the University of Minnesota in Morris in 1979. On June 6, 1987 he was united in marriage to Patti Anderson at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton, MN. Except for five years in rural Appleton, MN, they lived their entire married life in Montevideo. He worked as a claims adjuster for Grinnel Mutual Insurance, at Innovex in Montevideo and Jennie O in Willmar and in Montevideo. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Patti; children: Alexander Thompson of Northfield, MN and Kacie Thompson of Montevideo; his father, Virgil Thompson of Dawson, MN; a sister, Lynette (Mark Saboe of Dawson, MN and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Arlene this past June as well as by his grandparents.
