Rita Larson, died on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at her home in the Snip area of Hagen/Big Bend at the age of 59. Private family funeral services will be conducted.
Rita Mae (Determan) Larson was born on March 2, 1954 in Marshall, MN to Ivo and Margaret (Vandermeersch) Determan. She was baptized and confirmed at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School in 1972. On July 15, 1972, she was united in marriage to Allen Larson at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Following a year in Montevideo, they moved to the snip in the Hagen/Big Bend area. Since 1988 she served as a librarian at the Milan/Appleton Elementary School. She was a member of Big Bend Lutheran Church and was active in church activities. She enjoyed crafts and wheat weaving, running, walking, golfing, gardening and landscaping, and caring for her chickens She also enjoyed vacationing in Jamaica with the July folks.
She is survived by her children: three sons: Kirk of Maple Lake, MN; Nathan and his wife Amanda of Elko New Market, MN and Blair of Alexandria, MN; a daughter, Emily and her husband Jason Bendel of Hagen, MN; six grandchildren: McKennan, Nolan, Beau, Cylas, Aubrey and Ray; four brothers: Larry (Linda Edwardsen) Determan of Bloomington, MN, Del (Cindy) Determan of Brooks, MN, Anthony (Trina) Determan of Wayzata, MN and Gregory Determan of Chippewa Falls, WI; five sisters: Monica (Dick) Odom of Nucla, CO, Betty Ann (Ray) Colman of Lakeville, MN. Mary Struchen of Eagle Lake, MN, Bernie (Thomas) Athman of Lakeville, MN and Therese Gregg of Marshall, MN; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband Allen in 2011.
