Robert" Harry" Ahlgren, of Montevideo, died on January 11, 1995 at the Chippewa Co-Montevideo Hospital at the age of 89. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday January 14, 1995 at 1:30 PM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Douglas Olson and Rev. Warren Broughton officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Robert Harry Ahlgren was born on August 20, 1905 in Chicago, Illinois to John and Emily (Anderson) Ahlgren. He grew up on homesteaded land near Parshall, North Dakota and attended Parshall Schools. He was united in marriage to Eunice Kringle on August 7, 1937 in Minot, ND. They lived in Parshall for 5 years before moving to Fosston, Mn. in 1942. He worked as a clerk at the Farmers State Bank in Fosston until becoming the Fosston City Clerk in the late 1940's. He served as city clerk for 20 years before retiring in 1969. He served as acting Administrator for the Fosston Municipal Hospital for 2 years following his retirement. In 1971 they moved to Montevideo, Minnesota. He worked for a couple of years part-time at the Henry Candy Co. in Montevideo. He was currently a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. He had been a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston and had been active on several boards and in the Fosston Community Club.
Harry is survived by a son - Bob Ahlgren and his wife Barbara of Bloomington,Mn.; by a daughter - Jean and her husband Bud Johnson of Montevideo; by grandchildren - Erik and Sara Johnson; by a brother - Freddie (Irene) Ahlgren of Parshall, ND; by sisters - Mildred Sanderson of New Town,ND; Margaret (Harold) Debertin of Plaza, ND; and Vivian (Joe) Schneider of Longview, Wa.; by a sister-in-law - Marie Ahlgren of Parshall, ND; a brother-in-law - A.T. Mortensen of Longview, Wa.: as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife Eunice in 1980; by a brother - Arthur; and by a sister - Florence Mortensen
