Robert Bang

May 15, 1942 — February 26, 2012

Robert LeRoy Bang, of Maynard, MN died unexpectedly February 26, 2012 at his home in Louriston Township. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 1:30 PM at Maynard Lutheran Church with Rev. Tim Ehling officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with the family present from 5-7:00 PM and a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM. Robert (Bob) Bang was born May 15, 1942 in Montevideo, MN the son of Douglas and LaVon (Johnson) Bang. He attended rural School District 43 in Grace Township and graduated from Maynard High School in 1960. He then attended Mankato State University and graduated from the University of North Dakota. Bob was united in marriage with Marlene Krenz June 22, 1963 at Trinity Lutheran Church of Havelock. They made their home of 43 years in rural Louriston Township. He worked road construction for 13 years. In 1976 he and his brother Doug opened Bang Welding. Bob spent the last 20 years farming, of which he enjoyed most of all. Bob's favorite hobbies were woodworking, fishing and Sudoku. He was a perfectionist and enjoyed repairing anything, especially when it was challenging. He liked to collect and disassemble radios, televisions and anything electronic. Bob was a very loving, patient and tender man with a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature. He is survived by his beloved and cherished wife, Marlene; a brother, Doug (Audrey) Bang of Maynard, MN; a sister Darlene Dokken of Mesa, AZ; father-in-law Marvin Krenz of Maynard, MN; sister-in-law Wanda (Darryl) Schmidt of Alexandria, MN; 13 nieces and nephews; 13 great nieces and nephews; 1 great great nephew; 14 god children; and their four legged best friend, Annie. Preceding him in death were his parents, Douglas and LaVon Bang and his mother-in-law, Jean Krenz. Bob will forever be in our hearts. Blessed be his memory.
