Robert Lanes, of Montevideo, died on Wednesday, January 24, 2001 at the Chippewa Co - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 75.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 27th at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Michael Briggs officiating. Burial will be in the Black Oak Lake Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening and with the family from 5 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Robert Charles Lanes was born on April 28, 1925 in Leenthrop Township of Chippewa Co., MN to Walter and Edith (Eichelberger) Lanes. He was baptized on May 26, 1925 and confirmed on June 4, 1939 at Black Oak Lake Lutheran Church. He attended and graduated from Montevideo High School. On October 27, 1945 he was united in marriage to Ione Johnson at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan, MN. They farmed for many years in Leenthrop Township before moving into Montevideo in 1998. He was a member of Black Oak Lake Lutheran Church and was currently a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He served on the Black Oak Lutheran Brotherhood and the Black Oak Cemetery Board. He served on the Trinity Lutheran Property Committee and the Trinity Mens Bible Study. He enjoyed church activities, travel, golf, fishing, playing cards, dancing and being with family.
He is survived by his wife - Ione; a daughter - Sally Shaur and her husband Roger of Bloomington, MN; sons - Dr. Tom Lanes and his wife Colleen of Alexandria, MN and Jerry Lanes and his wife Bonnie of St. Peter, MN; 7 grandchildren; 3 brothers - Don Lanes and his wife Florence of Minneapolis, MN; Bruce Lanes and his wife Casey of Anoka, MN and Lee Lanes and his wife Vickie of Columbia, MO; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a nephew - Keith Lanes.
