Robert Lien, of Maynard, died on Friday, March 22 , 2013 at the Clara City Care Center at the age of 79.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at the Wang Lutheran Church of Rural Maynard. Pastor Brad Larson will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 at the Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Robert Vernon Lien was born on September 19, 1933 in Wang Township, Renville County, MN to Bernard and Alice (Hoverstad) Lien. He was baptized and confirmed at Wang Lutheran Church. He attended Maynard School. Robert was united in marriage to Donna Mae Bakker on May 2, 1953 at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church of Renville. They lived on his home farm which became a century farm in 1978 with Gov. Quie presenting the award. He was also a real estate agent, and drove a Maynard school bus for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, playing the violin, listening to classical music, spending time with grandchildren and taming rabbits in his yard. He was a life long member of Wang Lutheran Church where he was active as an usher, on the cemetery board and other committees.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Mae; three children: Stanton Lien of Coon Rapids, MN, Kathy Jo Holen of Sun City, AZ, and David (and Sue) Lien of Maynard, MN; four grandchildren: Andrea Lien, Jeremy Lein, Chad Holen, and Christopher Holen; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters: Doris (Jack) Brambila of Shakopee and Gladys Ann (Bryce) Nelson of Montevideo and numerous extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
