Robert Nelson, of Dawson, died Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the Clarkfield Care Center in Clarkfield, MN at the age of 78.
Visitation time with the family will be held on Monday, May 8, 2017 from 1:00-3:00 PM at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson. Family prefers memorial to donors choice in lieu of flowers.
Robert Ansley Nelson was born on September 7, 1938 in Dawson, MN to Ernest and Charlotte (Kravik) Nelson. He grew up in Dawson and graduated from Dawson High School in 1956. He married Janice Froland at Clarkfield Lutheran Church on November 21, 1959. They had one daughter, Melissa. They lived for a short time in Minneapolis before moving back to the Dawson area. Robert served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963.
Robert was a farmer and enjoyed being out on the farm. He also enjoyed cars and drag racing and was a world class drag racer.
Robert is survived by his wife, Janice; his daughter, Melissa Schentzel, Lennox, S.D.; two grandsons, Blake and Kade Schentzel as well as other extended relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Charlotte Nelson; brothers-in-law: Archie Froland and Wendell Froland, and sister-in-law, Nola (George) Edwards.
