Robert Rodeberg, of Montevideo, died on Friday, December 12, 2008 at the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital at the age of 82. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Saron Lutheran Church in rural Montevideo with Rev. Theresa Kraft officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Robert Harold Rodeberg was born on September 26, 1926 in Montevideo, MN to Harry and Mabel (Wig) Rodeberg. He was baptized at Saron Lutheran Church, confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1944. On March 16, 1947 he was united in marriage to Harriet Olson at the Hazel Run Lutheran Church. They farmed in Leenthrop Township for many years before moving into Montevideo in 1995. He was a life-long member of Saron Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He was a Director of Minnwest Bank, a founding Director of the Southern MN Beet Co-op; was President of Chippewa Co. Cattlemen's Association, an Advisory Board Member of the 4-H and a 4-H leader. He enjoyed his cabin on Maple Lake, bowling, dancing, reading farm magazines, golfing and especially farming and being with his family. He is survived by his wife Harriet; five children: Sherry (and Jerry) Johnson of Woodbury, MN, Steven (and Marilyn) Rodeberg of Montevideo, Mary Squiers of Chaska, MN, Marc (and Lynn) Rodeberg and Randy (and Betty) Rodeberg, both of Montevideo; twelve grandchildren: Anthony (Ana) Johnson, Eric Johnson, Kris (Stacy) Rodeberg, Kari (Craig) Hendrickson, Jon (Amy) Rodeberg, Cassie Squiers and Nate, Nick Squiers, Mindy Rodeberg, Josh (Jessica) Rodeberg, Shaun Rodeberg, Ashley Rodeberg and Derek Rodeberg; seven great-grandchildren: Tyler, Brandon, Jesse, Tristan, Alex, Jayden and Jada; two brothers: Dick (and Carole) Rodeberg and Dean Rodeberg, both of Montevideo as well as by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; and by a sister-in-law, Marilyn Rodeberg.
