Robert Sandven, of Benson,died on Friday, May 6, 2011 at Golden Living Center in Benson, MN. at the age of 77. Memorial Services will be conducted on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at 1:00 PM at Big Bend Lutheran Church with Rev. Jay Grave officiating. Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5-7:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 6:45 PM. Robert Eide Sandven was born on August 7, 1933 at home in Big Bend Township of Chippewa County, MN the son of Arnt and Agnes (Eide) Sandven. He was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church and graduated from Milan High School in 1951. He served in the National Guard and also spent 3 years in the Air Force. On June 9, 1956, he was united in marriage with Annette Danielson at Big Bend Lutheran Church. They lived and farmed east of Milan for 37 years. He also did custom bailing. He moved to Benson in 1993 and these past few years he kept busy hauling scrap iron. Bob enjoyed music, going for rides, gardening, creating things and then giving them away, and spending time with family and his many friends. He enjoyed his grandchildren and especially loved his great- grandchildren, four of whom were born in the past 6 months. He is survived by three children: LuAnn (Jon) Harris of Fergus Falls, MN, Larry (Renee) Sandven of Montevideo, MN, and Lance Sandven of Clara City, MN; eight grandchildren: Daniel (Jackie Klein) Harris, Katie (Ty) Stortroen, Dustin (Hayley Sokness) Harris, Derek Harris, Christopher Sandven, Ryan Sandven, Courtney (Vince Lam) Sandven, and Whitney Sandven; five great-grandchildren: Karly Sokness, Elly Stortroen, Baylee Lam, Brinley Harris, and Mack Harris; one brother: Alden Sandven of Hokah, MN; three sisters: Janice Penke of Quitman, TX, BJ Ansay of Littleton, CO, and Shirley (Gary) Olson of Victoria, MN; a sister-in-law Andrea Sandven of Dawson, MN and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, David on April 14, 2011.
