Robert Carl Tischer

Robert Tischer, formerly of Maynard died on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 83.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.  Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Robert Carl Tischer was born on September 3, 1940 in the Montevideo Hospital.  The first child of Carl and Verona (Berge) Tischer.  He was baptized September 22, 1940 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City, MN.  He was confirmed on April 3, 1955 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City, MN.  He attended country school at District #32, which was located next to the family farm.  He started school in the Maynard Public School in 8th grade in the fall of 1954.  He was in the Maynard class of 1959.  He entered the Navy on June 3, 1959 where he received his GED.  He was honorably discharged on May 31, 1963.  He spent most of his Navy career on  air craft carriers.  He then started his career of over 40 years as a truck driver for road construction.  He worked for various companies during his career.

Robert loved being outdoors.  He spent many days baiting bears and was lucky to get 2 bears during his hunting career and also a couple of wild turkeys and deer.  He did go out west a few times to hunt elk and to Texas to hunt the wild pigs.

Robert was a member of the Montevideo Snow Drifters Club, Maynard and Montevideo American Legions, and Montevideo and Appleton Sportsmen Clubs.  He loved to go snowmobiling and took many trail rides in Minnesota and out west.  He enjoyed going to Air Shows, church suppers, dancing, auctions and going into town for coffee at the old Trailways.

Because of his health he went to live at Brookside Senior Living in Montevideo in March of 2017 and finally moved to Luther Haven Care Center in Montevideo in March of 2022.

He is survived by brothers and sisters: Coni Sederstrom, Clarkfield, MN, Roger (Sue) Tischer, Maynard, MN, Lory (Ches) Strom, St. Louis Park, MN, Gary (Brenda) Tischer, Thief River Falls, MN, Dorothy Tischer, Brooklyn Park, MN; nieces and nephews: Twyla Sederstrom, Tammy (Jim) Loose, Matt (Amy) Sederstrom, Heather (Tom) Schneider, Holly (Oulia Yang) Tischer, Jennifer (Eric) Huseth, Teresa (Dan) Olson, Nathan Tischer, Tiffany (Kyle) Jefferson, Erica (Greg) Lauinger and Alison Jennings; many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Verona (Berge) Tischer, grandparents: George and Anna (Lanning) Berge and John and Mary (Klingbile) Tischer.
