Robert “Bud” Bergo, of Montevideo, died on Thursday, April 28, 2005 at the Chippewa Co - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 84.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at 1:30 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Kurt Hoover officiating. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening, with the family from 5 - 7 PM and with a prayer service at 6:30 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Robert Edward “Bud” Bergo was born on August 24, 1920 in Montevideo, MN to Edward and Ruth (Morrill) Bergo. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo and attended rural schools. He served in the US Army during World War II, serving in the artillery in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. On October 25, 1942 he was united in marriage to Erna Christenson in Reno, NV. They farmed in Rosewood Township. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where he had ushered and been a member of a men’s Bible study group. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Disabled Veterans, Tuesday Veteran’s Group and the Farmers Union. He enjoyed playing cards, reading, dancing, car racing, traveling, driving tractor and giving hay rides, visiting and especially entertaining his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by 3 children: Jean Kutz and her husband Richard of Burnsville, MN; Linda Walstrom of St. Cloud, MN and Lee Bergo of Montevideo; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; a brother, Paul Bergo of Montevideo, and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Erna in 1995 and by a brother, Loren Bergo.
