Roger W. Anderson, of Montevideo, died on Tuesday November 7, 1995 at the Chippewa Co-Montevideo Hospital at the age of 81. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday November 11, 1995 at 2:00 P.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Wayne Kopitzke officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation was Friday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Roger Wilbur Anderson was born on May 16, 1914 in Montevideo, Minnesota to Charles and Carrie (Eliason) Anderson. He attended Montevideo Public Schools. He was united in marriage to LaVon Thomas on June 17, 1934 in Montevideo. He owned and operated Anderson's Super Service in Montevideo from 1930 until his retirement in 1976. Following his retirement they spent their winters in Yuma, AZ and spent summers at a cabin on Lake Amelia. He was currently living in Montevideo. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and served on several church boards, was an Odd Fellow, a fireman, and a charter member of the Montevideo Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, LaVon; three daughters: Marie Overby and her husband Floyd of Lafayette, CA, Joan Riley of Montevideo, and Karen King and her husband David of Saipan; 6 grandchildren: Sara Overby of Massachusetts; Susan Anderson of Lockport, NY, Kristina Dellabalma of Monroe, WA, Roger Riley of Fremont, CA, and Andrew and Paul Overby of Lafayette, CA; one daughter-in-law, Diane (Anderson) Hannigan of Lockport, NY; two sisters: Amy Lund of Inver Grove Heights, MN and Francis Jerome of Mesa, AZ; and one brother, Newton Anderson of Colorado Springs, CO.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Roger Anderson, Jr.; and one sister, Vinnett Diffenbaugh.
