Roger Bakken

Roger Bakken died on August 22, 2023 at CCM Health at the age of 80.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Roger Marcus Keith Bakken was born on February 7, 1943 to Rudolph and Minnie (Running) Bakken.  He graduated from Appleton High School in 1961.  While in high school he participated in track and was a member of the State Champion 4 X 440.  From high school he went on to serve in the United States Marines from 1961 to 1965.

Roger was an over the road truck driver that hauled heavy equipment.  He was awarded the Million Mile Award for no accidents.  When he was not driving truck he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and dancing.

Roger is survived by his siblings: Ardis (Jake) Lillestol, Fergus Falls, MN, Monica (Cecil) Brown, Conway, SC, Donna (Joseph) Schuelke, Marshall, MN, Bruce (Gloria) Bakken, Lake Zurich, IL, Glen (Linda) Bakken, Aitkin, MN; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Sherman (Darlene) Bakken; an infant sister, Beth; and his special fur friend dog Rosie.
