Roger Eddy, of Montevideo, died on Friday, March 25, 2011 at the Chippewa Co - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 76. Memorial services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald S. McKee officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5 - 7 P.M. and with a prayer service at 6:30 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Roger Allan Eddy was born on February 16, 1935 in Montevideo, MN to Erwin and Mathilda (Harstad) Eddy. He was baptized in Montevideo in 1936 and later confirmed in 1954. He attended Montevideo Public Schools, graduating from Montevideo High School in 1953. On March 25, 1956 he was united in marriage to Claire Huntley in E. Machias, ME. He served in the U S Navy for 22 years, serving as a Lt Cmdr stationed in Virginia, Pennsylvania, Cuba, Puerto Rico and Missouri before retiring in 1974. He retired to Appleton, MN, where he lived from 1974 - 1986 before moving to Apache Junction, AZ. In 2002 he moved to Montevideo, MN, where he was currently making his home. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and was a member of the VFW Posts in Appleton and Montevideo. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, playing keno and bingo, and being a general handyman. He is survived by his wife, Claire; four daughters: Catherine Bretz of Warrenton, VA; Susan Sorby of Chandler, AZ; Patricia (and husband Kevin) Gould of Glouchestershire, England; and Cheryl Eddy-Rue of Montevideo; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister, Ethel Clark of Willmar, MN and by a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James Eddy and Erwin Eddy, Jr.; and by a sister, Lucille Engstrom.
