Roger Ellsworth Ellefson

Roger Ellefson, of Dawson, died Thursday, September 24, 2020 at his home in Dawson, MN at the age of 83.

Private services will be held with a live stream available on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at 2:00 PM.

Visitation and viewing will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2020 from 4:30 PM - 7:00 PM at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.  Masks and social distancing will be required.

Roger Ellsworth Ellefson was born February 5, 1937 in Lac qui Parle County, MN to Arnold and Ethel (Larson) Ellefson.  He was baptized on May 30, 1937 and confirmed May 13, 1951 both at Riverside Lutheran Church in Dawson.  Roger attended and graduated from Dawson High school.  He was united in marriage to Ardis Nohrenberg on November 7, 1959 in rural Madison, MN.  Together they had four children and made their home in Dawson.  After Ardis’ passing he was united in marriage to Anne Winge on December 12, 1987 in Santa Barbara, CA and added a step-daughter, Sue, to his family.

Roger worked for Larson Tiling as a machine operator for many years.  He was a real handyman and would spend much of his free time tinkering and working with wood, creating everything from kitchen cabinets to fishing lures.  He also enjoyed hunting and fishing at Lac Qui Parle lake and did both activities with his family and close friends.  When he was no longer able to hunt and fish, he enjoyed rides around the lake.  He also enjoyed reading the newspaper with his morning coffee and watching the birds at his bird feeders.  Most of all, Roger loved spending time with his family and he will be dearly missed.

Roger is survived by his wife Anne of Dawson, MN; children, Roger A. (Audrey) Ellefson of Dawson, MN, Jeffrey (Sherri) Ellefson of Springfield, MN, and Lisa Ellefson (significant other Eric) of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Tera (Christopher Wand) Ellefson, and Joshua Ellefson; step-daughter, Sue Munoz of Denver, CO; brothers, Merlin Ellefson, Darrel Ellefson, Kenneth Ellefson, and Walt Ellefson; and numerous family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ardis in 1986; daughter, Juanna Ellefson in 2008; and brother, Virgil Ellefson.
