Roger Oman

Roger Oman, of Dawson, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at the Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson at the age of 95.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 25, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson.  Pastor Kendall Stelter will officiate, and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 24, 2023 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson with a prayer service at 3:30 PM.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Leslie Roger Oman was born July 30, 1928 in Dawson, MN to Louis and Tilda (Larson) Oman.  He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith.  Roger attended and graduated from Dawson High School and after high school he helped take care of the family farm.  Roger was united in marriage to Jane Haakkenson on March 28, 1952 at Riverside Lutheran Church in Dawson.  They made their home in Dawson and to this union three children were born.

Roger worked for Dawson Mills and AGP for over thirty years.  He loved the outdoors and enjoyed his time outside gardening, mowing lawn and taking care of his yard.  Roger also enjoyed having a good cup of coffee in the company of his family and friends.  He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and helped catalog the church cemetery and many cemeteries in the area.

Roger is survived by his wife, Jane; children, Peter Oman of Minneapolis, MN, Paulette (Jack) Bickler of Nixa, MO and Daniel Oman of Maple Grove, MN; grandchildren, Aaron Oman, Abigale (Terry) Vliek, Andrew Oman, Jackie Bickler (significant other, Chance), Nathan Bickler and Katie (Kyle) Barron; great-grandchildren, Lydia Barron and Sydney Barron; and numerous other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Katherine Wallem, Robert Oman and twin brother, Phillip Oman.
