Roger was born in Madison, MN on June 26, 1935 to James and Marie (Oppedahl) Tollakson. He was baptized and confirmed at Providence Valley Lutheran Church and attended Rural School District 59. At an early age, Roger worked to help his mom and brothers on the family farm. On June 21, 1969 he married Linda (Harberts) Tollakson. After marriage he lived in Marshall, MN for a few years and was employed driving truck locally and over the road. He then moved to the Tollakson family farm in 1972 where he farmed and raised his family. Roger was also self-employed as a truck driver for close to 50 years and proud to say he was accident free, and was given several safety awards during his many years of trucking. He retired from trucking at the young age of 80.
Roger took great pride in his family farm and driving truck. He enjoyed keeping busy, was hard-working and self-less, had a sense of humor, and was an understanding and loving man. When he decided to sit down, get his cup of coffee and relax, he enjoyed watching the MN Vikings and Twins, old western movies and wrestling on TV, and spending time with his family.
Roger is survived by his wife, Linda; four children: Scott, Melissa (Tony) Devine, Angela Russo, and Timothy; nine grandchildren: Joshua (Amanda) Johnshoy, Glenn, Robert (Taryn) Devine, Brandon (Erin) Devine, Brooke (Ryan Mueller) Devine, Brenna (Dan) Tuckett, Kaden Russo, Kadie Reil, and Hudson Kress; six great-grandchildren: Logan and Lauren Johnshoy, Hans and Miley Devine, Braxtyn Tuckett, and Zayden Stittleburg; a sister, Madalyn (Wilton) Gustafson; and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marie; daughter, Nora Tollakson Hanson; son, Roger “Jack”; brothers: Lawrence, Orville, and Kenneth; sister and brother-in-law, Grace (Melvin) Thompson; nephew, John; great-nephew, Jesse; and niece, Valerie Stratmoen.
“Until we meet again...May God ride with you, 10-4, and goodbye”.
Roger’s faith in God has led him home. Blessed be his memory.
