Roger Wallace, of Montevideo, died on Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at his home at the age of 88 .
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, June 12, 2004 at 10:30 AM at the Watson Lutheran Church in Watson with Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening and with the family from 6:30 - 8 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Roger Wallace was born on September 28, 1915 in Maynard, MN to Guy and Margaret (Warren) Wallace. He attended rural schools and the Morris Ag School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1946. On March 9, 1947 he was united in marriage to Gudrun Kalmoe at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. He was a lifelong resident of Chippewa County, farmed and was a truck driver. He was a member and former commander of VFW Post # 380 in Montevideo. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, and spent several winters in Yuma, AR.
He is survived by his wife, Gudrun; a daughter, Patricia Weckwerth and her husband Jim of Redwood Falls; a son, Dale R. Wallace and his wife Sharron of Salt Lake City, UT; three grandchildren: Robyn Weckwerth, Wendy Weckwerth, and Darci Wallace; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Anderson of Montevideo; and a brother, Archie Wallace, Montevideo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Donald Wallace; two grandsons: Steven Wallace and Jay Weckwerth; two sisters: Edith Blakesley: and Eleanor Tostenson; a brother, Warren Wallace; and a niece, Nancy Tostenson.
