Roland "Rollie" Leon Pitt

November 9, 1929 — April 20, 2016

Roland Pitt, of Montevideo, died Wednesday April 20, 2016 at Luther Haven Nursing home in Montevideo at the age of 86.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 25,  2016 at 11:00 AM  at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. David Doppenenberg officiating. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran church cemetery in Clara City. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 5-7 PM at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.  Memorials are preferred to the Brookside Senior Living Building Fund.

Roland “Rollie” Leon Pitt was born November 9, 1929 to Walter and Charlotte (Frank) Pitt in Montevideo.  He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran in Clara City.  At age 12 he had polio and spend 22 months in the Sister Kenney Institute in Minneapolis.  He graduated from Marshall High School South East in 1951.  Following graduation he attended the Minnesota School of Business and graduated with a degree in business.

Rollie worked for many years in various businesses in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area including Harmon Glass and Control Data.  Rollie decided to retire and came to  Montevideo to live with his mother at Brookside Manor.  In 2013, he moved to Luther Haven Nursing Home.

Rollie enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  When he lived in the Twin Cities area he was a member of a shooting range and a social/service club that got together for a variety of events such as bowling and picnics.  He enjoyed traveling and traveled with friends to England and Ireland.  Rollie was very interested in people especially connecting with family members and other relatives.

He is survived by his brothers, Gordon (Carole) of Coon Rapids and Edgar of Clara City; his nieces and nephews: Greg Pitt, Leslie (Greg) Pitt Schneider, Jeff (Cheryl) Pitt, Pam (George) Eklund, Sherrie (Tim) Hanson and Kim (Rod) Boike and other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a long time friend and soul mate Joanne Garrahy.
