Ronald Ochsendorf died Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hosptial at the age of 71.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Big Bend Lutheran Church in Chippewa County, MN. Rev. Keith Long will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday, from 5-7:00 PM at the Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.
Ronald LeRoy Ochsendorf was born September 18, 1943 the son of LeRoy and Eldora (Giese) Ochsendorf. He grew up in the rural Canby area and graduated from Canby High School in 1961. Ron was united in marriage with Mary Halvorson April 11, 1964 at Big Bend Lutheran Church. He served in the US Army and was stationed the last 14 months in Brooklyn, NY. After his discharge, they moved to a farm in Chippewa County. He farmed for 20 years and has been at the agronomy center in Granite Falls for the past 23 years. Ron was active in 4-H, coached the livestock judging team, and was active on the Chippewa County Fair Board for many years. He enjoyed snowmobiling, baling, playing softball, and fishing. He especially enjoyed time with his family and watching his children and grandchildren show cattle. They spent many years going to cattle shows at the MN State Fair and to Omaha.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; four children: Chad (Missy) Ochsendorf of Montevideo, MN, Christian (Laura) Ochsendorf of Willmar, MN, Stephanie (Josh) Stevenson of Backus, MN and Justin (Amy) Ochsendorf of Watson, MN; thirteen grandchildren: Jennifer, Kaileigh, Kami, Alise, Jacob, Cooper, Cole, Carter, Meg, Jayden, Zackary, Brooklyn, and Kade; sisters: Karen Launderville of Garfield, AR and Deb Bendel of Farmington, MN; brothers: Leslie (Geri) Ochsendorf of Rosemount, MN, Garry (Dar) Ochsendorf of Dawson, MN and Rick (Deb) Ochsendorf of Prior Lake, MN; a brother-in-law, John Halvorson of Buffalo, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his in-laws; a brother, Lonny Ochsendorf; and a sister-in-law, Janet Halvorson.
