Ronald was born in Appleton, Minnesota, on October 2nd, 1943, to Warren and Lyla (Hantho) Streed.
Ronald was baptized and confirmed at Milan Methodist Church. He graduated Milan High School in 1961 and married his high school sweetheart Nancy Hagen in 1963. Ronald served as an active member of Kviteseid Lutheran church for 59 years.
Ronald served in the Minnesota National Guard from 1966 through 1972. He had a 50+ year career in farming, which he took tremendous pride in and wisely embraced new technology through the years.
Ronnie, as called by his closest friends and family, was very active in the Milan community. He served on the Kviteseid Lutheran Church Board, Milan Elevator Board, Cemetery Board and was a member and served a term as commander of the American Legion.
Ronnie spent many years with his family at Ottertail Lake. Wonderful memories were made there with family and friends. Here, he taught his sons how to fish and water ski. He also taught himself how to sail without any formal instruction, which revealed his Norwegian stubbornness. ‘Campfire time’ and camaraderie with lake friends were some of his most cherished memories.
Ronnie loved history, fishing, and traveling. In the fall, he carved out time to go hunting with his sons, even after long days and nights harvesting. Ronnie was also very handy and always found creative ways to fix things. He found great joy in being a grandpa and loved spending quality time with his granddaughters.
Ronnie had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh. He always knew how to lighten a room with his easygoing nature. He will be remembered for his many kind acts, being a man of his word, and for always being someone you could count on.
He is survived by his loving wife Nancy of almost 59 years; his sister Wanda (Gary) of Fridley, MN, his brother Mark (Janelle) of Milan, MN, his son Andrew (Nita) of Milan MN, his step-grandchildren Reuter and Elsa of Jakarta, Indonesia, as well as his younger son Eric (Lori) of Surry, NH, his grandchildren Hannah (Alec) of Webster NH, Sophie and Ava of Surry, NH, and many nieces and nephews. Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents Warren and Lyla, his brother James, and by his in-laws Charley and Eunice Hagen, whom he loved dearly.
On November 19th, 2022, at the age of 79, Ron took a new assignment and was transferred into heaven.
Ronnie will be deeply missed, and his memory will be cherished and kept alive by his loved ones.
