Rose Maus, of rural Maynard, died Friday, June 23, 2023 at Avera Granite Falls Health Center at the age of 90.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church of Havelock. Rev. Kent Borglum will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 5-7:00 PM at the Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. There will also be visitation at the church for one hour before the service.
Rose Marie (Wentzel) Maus was born on January 22, 1933, at her grandparents’ home in Louriston Township, in Chippewa County, MN to Henry and Hazel (Ashburn) Wentzel. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On June 12, 1950, she was united in marriage to Warren Maus in Milbank, SD. They lived and farmed in Havelock Township for many years. She was a homemaker and later became an owner of two floral businesses in Montevideo.
Rose was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Havelock and was involved as a Sunday school teacher and with Ladies Aid. She also was a 4-H club leader and a member of the Maynard Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed luncheons and time spent with the local homemaker’s group and birthday club.
Rose enjoyed many crafts – from ceramics, painting, and needlework, to quilting and sewing many clothing items including all her daughters’ wedding gowns and their families’ baptismal gowns. Fishing and traveling were a favorite pastime with Warren – spending time traveling the United States, Sweden, and many winters spent in Texas.
She is survived by her children: Jerry Maus and his wife Joan of Lowry, MN, Linda Maus and her husband Brad Johnson of Maynard, MN, Robin Stemsrud and her husband Steven of Stockholm, SD, Susan Maus and her husband Steven Wandersee of Ortonville, MN, Thomas Maus and his special friend Colleen Davis of New Richmond, WI, Heidi Stutelberg and her husband Scott of Hutchinson, MN, and Holly Roush and her husband Steven of Farming, MN; 24 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren; a sister, Alvina Croghan of Harlingen, TX; brothers: Melvin Wentzel and his wife Elaine of DeGraff, MN and Eugene Wentzel and his wife Karen of Murdock, MN; sister-in-law, Eleanor Wentzel of Willmar, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Warren, who passed away July 6th, 2012; her parents; brother, Merlin and his first wife Mary; a brother-in-law, Richard Croghan; and nephew, Robert Croghan.
