Roy Rudolph Meyer

Roy Meyer, of Montevideo, died on Monday, January 3, 2005 in Mission, TX at the age of 75.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 10, 2005 at 1:00 PM at Jevnaker Lutheran Church in rural Montevideo with Rev. Gregory Gabriel officiating.  Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.

Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and with the family present from 3-5:00 PM.

Roy Rudolph Meyer was born on May 8, 1929 in Holstein, IA to Rudolph and Anna (Weber) Meyer.   He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Galva, IA.  Roy attended school there and graduated from Galva High School in 1946.  He was united in marriage with Genevieve Lundberg on November 21, 1948 at Galva, IA.  They farmed at Galva, IA and Echo, MN before moving to a farm at Montevideo, MN in 1963.  He retired from farming in 1994.  Roy served on the Rosewood Town Board for 10 years, was a member of Farm Bureau and served on the county board for Farm Bureau, a member of MN Antique Power and Farm Machinery, and Jevnaker Lutheran Church.  He enjoyed fishing, working on antique tractors, playing cards, and spending time with family.

He is survived by his wife, Genevieve; five children: Dennis Meyer and his wife Pat of Windsor, CO, Janette Rondeau and her husband Steve of Johnstown, CO, Rodney Meyer and his wife Janet of Montevideo, MN, Karen Ondracek and her husband Don of St. Cloud, MN, and Gary Meyer of Montevideo, MN; 16 grandchildren;17 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Fred Meyer of LaCrescent, MN, Verdine Meyer of Hopkinsville, KY, and William Meyer of Mt. Home, AR; one sister, Edna Box of Schaller, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Edwin; and one sister, Lillian Ingram.
