Ruby Alice Johnson was born November 1, 1910, in Providence Township, Lac Qui Parle County, the daughter of C.H. and Anna Mathilda (Johnson) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at the Providence Valley Lutheran Church.
Ruby attended country school as a student of her sister, Hilda. For a short time after school, she lived in Dawson. She then moved to Minneapolis, where she was a governess for a family. In 1942, she began to work for Northwest Airlines and became their Chief Switchboard Operator. After her retirement in 1975, she continued to live in Golden Valley until February 2, 1998, when she became a resident of the Madison Lutheran Home. She moved to the Johnson Memorial Home on February 24, 1998, and remained there until her death on Monday, March 16, 1998, at the age of 87 years, 4 months, and 15 days.
She is survived by brother-in-law, Donald C. Grant; niece, Sheryl Malone; nephews, Donald Grant, Jr. and Richard Grant; great-nieces and great-nephews; and other family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers: Adolph and Manfred Johnson; sisters: Hilda V. Johnson, Mrs. Everett (Minnie) Ryberg, Mrs. Donald (Norma) Grant, Mrs. Robert (Ella) Robertson, Blanche D. Johnson, and Evelyne I. Johnson; niece, Terri Grant; and 2 nephews: Elwood and Roland Robertson.
