Ruby Norby, 94, of Montevideo died October 22, 1993 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 26, at 1:30 P.M. at Big Bend Lutheran Church. Rev. Kathryn Rothman and Rev. Russell Anderson will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home and with the family from 7-9:00 P.M. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral Monday evening and there will also be visitation at the church for one hour before services.
Ruby Elvina Molden was born March 26, 1899 in Westbank Township, Swift County, MN the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Jorgenson) Molden. She was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church. Ruby was united in marriage with Eddie J. Norby January 18, 1920 at Big Bend Lutheran Church. They made their home in Chippewa County. Eddie died February 9, 1956. After his death she moved into Montevideo where she did house cleaning and worked as a dishwasher at the Hi-Way Cafe. She was active at Big Bend Lutheran Church, a member of a circle there, and a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Ruby had been a resident of Luther Haven since 1982.
She is survived by three daughters: Ruth Simonson of Montevideo, Blanche Jordahl and her husband Phillip of Dawson, and Janice Olsen and her husband Ken of Montevideo; one son, Wayne Norby and his wife Ione of Denver, CO; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Bertha Molden of Benson, as well as by several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Eddie; four children: Elna, Roger, and Janet Norby and Winnifred Amundson; three sisters: Mabel Amundson, Francis Jacobs, and Esther Norby; and seven brothers: Eddie, Gilbert, Gilley, Joseph I, Edward, Selmer, and Joseph II.
