Ruby Torgerson, formerly of Montevideo, died on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at the Appleton Nursing Home at the age of 95. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 1:30 P.M. at Big Bend Lutheran Church with Rev. Jay Grave officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Ruby Luella (Thompson) Torgerson was born on March 14, 1913 in Big Bend Township of Chippewa County, MN to Ole and Johannah (Aarseth) Thompson. She was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church and graduated from Montevideo High School. She lived in the Big Bend area for several years before moving to St. Paul, MN, where she lived for many years. In the mid 1950's, she moved to Montevideo. She lived at Copper Glen in Montevideo for a time before becoming a resident of the Appleton Nursing Home in 2001. She was a life-long member of Big Bend Lutheran Church and a member of its women's organization. She enjoyed sewing and stitch work. She is survived by a son Darrel Torgerson and his wife Dorothy of Palo Alto, CA; four grandchildren: Curt Torgerson of Spain, Jamie Kobyluk and Karen and Keith Torgerson of California; a great-grandson, Matthew Kobyluk; two sisters: Elenora Jorgenson of Marshall, MN and Mildred Blom of Milan, MN; a brother, Arnold Thompson of Litchfield, MN; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: Henry, Thorfin, Rudolph and a brother in infancy; and a sister, Judell Kolstad.
