Rudy Theodore Thompson

Rudy Thompson, of Milan, died on Friday, December 8, 2000 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 90.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 12, 2000 at 1:30 PM at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Rev. Wayne Anderson officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be on Monday from 2 - 8  PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Rudolph Theodore Thompson was born on June 4, 1910 in Big Bend Twp of Chippewa Co., MN to Ole and Johanna (Aarseth) Thompson.  He was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church.  He graduated from Montevideo High School and attended Luther College in Decorah, IA.  On June 12, 1934 he was united in marriage to Lillian Saterlie in Watertown, SD.  He lived in Milan from 1942 until moving to Montevideo in 1999.  He was currently a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home. He worked as a car dealer, fur and scrap buyer and a seed corn dealer before retiring. He was a long time member of Kviteseid Lutheran Church and served as President of Brotherhood, was a Trustee for 6 years and served as financial secretary.  He was President of the Big Bend Farmers Union, President of the Commercial Club, was City Treasurer for 20 years, served on the City Council, was a charter member of the Lions Club,  served on the Lions Club Board of Directors and enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by 2 sons - Lowell Thompson and his wife Vi of Minnetonka, MN; and Robert Thompson and his wife Mary if Highland, IN; a daughter - Sharon Anderson and her husband Richard of Inver Grove Heights, MN; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a brother - Arnold Thompson of Litchfield, Mn; 4 sisters - Ruby Torgerson, Elenora Jorgenson and Mildred Blom of Montevideo and Jerdell Kolstad of Milan; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lillian in 1991;  brothers - Thorfin and Henry and an infant brother - Rudolph.
