Russell W. Anderson, formerly of Montevideo, died on Monday, September 27, 1999 at his home in Willmar, MN at the age of 73.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, September 30, 1999 at 11:00 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Warren Broughton and Rev. Douglas Olson officiating.  Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening and with the family from 6 - 8 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Russell William Anderson was born on March 31, 1926 in Montevideo, MN to Willie and Helga (Christianson) Anderson.  He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, attended Montevideo Public Schools and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1944.  He served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII.  On May 14, 1950 he was united in marriage to Virginia Marks at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  He worked at Anderson Funeral Home and had his own grave opening business until retiring in 1991.  He was a long time member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and a member of the VFW and American Legion.  He was member of the Montevideo Fire Department for over 30 years and served as Fire Chief from 1968 - 1976.  He worked as a dispatcher for a number of years and was the first Montevideo Ambulance Crew Coordinator.

He is survived by his wife - Virginia of Willmar; daughters - Colleen Wallien and her husband Paul of Aberdeen, SD and Anita Werner and her husband Mark of Willmar, MN; a son - Allen R. Anderson and his wife Michelle of Willmar, MN; 6 grandchildren - Andrea and Daniel Wallien; Heidi and Jeremy Werner and Hannah and Matthew Anderson; sisters - Myrtle Sherod and her husband Clarence of Montevideo; Florence Emery of Montevideo and Wilma Christianson of Blomkest, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, by his step-father - Albert Running and by a sister - Margaret McKeown.
