Ruth Anderson

Ruth Anderson, of Montevideo and formerly of rural Clara City, died on March 22, 2009 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 74. Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 1:30 PM at Buffalo Lake Lutheran Church of rural DeGraff with Rev. Carlton Nelson officiating. Interment will be in the Buffalo Lake Mission Covenant Cemetery. Visitation with reviewal will be on Thursday from 5 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. There will be no reviewal at the church. Ruth Lorraine (Hultquist) Anderson was born on January 2, 1935 near Dehli, MN to Axel Hjalmer and Alma (Larson) Hultquist. At the age of two she moved with her family to Swedes Forest Township near Belview, where she grew up and graduated from Belview High School in 1953. She attended North Central Bible College for a year. She was trained as a Beautician and had her own beauty shop in Echo, MN for a number of years. On February 4, 1967, she was united in marriage to Ellis Anderson at the Assembly of God Church in Redwood Falls, MN. They lived and farmed in Louriston Township of Chippewa County She had been a member of the Buffalo Lake Mission Covenant Church and currently was a member of Buffalo Lake Lutheran Church in rural DeGraff. She was also a member of the Farmers Union. She enjoyed flowers, being outside, fishing, gardening, canning fruits and vegetables, knitting, embroidery, reading and being a homemaker. She has been a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home for nearly five years. She is survived by a son, Peter Anderson of rural Clara City; two brothers: Ralph (and Pat) Hultquist of Coon Rapids, MN and Walter (and Vesta) Hultquist of Burnsville, MN; four sisters: Pauline Jones of Oswestry, England; Evelyn (and Bill) King of Princeton, MN; Lois (and Jean) Myers of Arnold, MO; and Esther Cocherell of Shalimar, FL; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ellis in 2007; and two brothers-in-law: Billy Jones and Glenn Cocherell.
