Ruth Breberg, 74, died on Friday, October 23, 1998, at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson, following a 2 year battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm, Monday, October 26, 1998, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson with Pastors Paul Christopher and Kendall Stelter officiating. Burial will be in the Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Dawson.
Visitation will be on Sunday afternoon from 2-6 pm at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson and on Monday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Ruth E. (Evenson) Breberg was born July 1, 1924, in Riverside Township, Lac Qui Parle County, MN, the daughter of John and Anna (Jordahl) Evenson. She was baptized on July 20, 1924, and confirmed on May 28, 1938, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Dawson. She attended country school in District 26.
On June 15, 1946, Ruth was united in marriage to Melvin C. Breberg at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Dawson. A son, Scott, was born to this union. After Melvin died suddenly on December 7, 1966, Ruth worked at Hauck's V-Store and The General Store in downtown Dawson. She truly enjoyed being downtown since it allowed her to meet and spend time with so many people.
Ruth was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was active in circle. She loved playing cards, traveling throughout the area, having coffee, and spending as much time as possible with her many friends and relatives. She will remain in our hearts as a loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Following a two year battle with cancer, Ruth died on Friday, October 23, 1998, at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson, at the age of 74 years, 3 months, and 22 days.
Ruth is survived by her son, Scott Breberg of Burnsville, MN; one sister, Alma Lee of Dawson; two brothers, Arne Evenson and Victor Evenson, both of Dawson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin Breberg; and brothers: Noble, Thore Bernard, Melvin, Helmer, and Obert Evenson.
