Ruth (Mrs. Sherman C.) Johnson, 82, of Montevideo died September 27, 2000 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 2, 2000 at 1:30 P.M. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Rev. Douglas Olson and Rev. Warren Broughton will officiate and burial will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Ruth Florence (Thompson) Johnson was born May 18, 1918 at Big Bend, MN the daughter of John and Hattie (McClocklin) Thompson. She attended school and grew to adulthood in the Big Bend area. Ruth was united in marriage with Sherman C. Johnson December 3, 1936 at the Big Bend Parsonage. They farmed in the Benson area before moving to Montevideo in 1955. Ruth worked as a waitress at several of the local cafes and later as a nurses aid at Luther Haven until she retired. She taught others how to do hand crafts at the Senior Center and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
She is survived by four children: Richard S. Johnson of Dawson, MN, Dorothy A. Johnson of Warrenton, OR, Cynthia Johnson and her husband Arlin Heinrich of St. Onge, SD, and Patricia Moseng and her husband Herman, Jr. of Elk River, MN; twelve grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Sarah Weflen of Montevideo, MN; Elvera Nokleby of Benson, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Sherman October 14, 1990; one daughter, Alvonna; one granddaughter, Kimberly Howard; six brothers; and three sisters.
