Ruth L. (Gruchow) Johnson

Ruth Johnson of Montevideo, died Thursday, November 25, 2004, at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 94.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, November 29, 2004, at 1:00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church  with Rev. Bill Odermann  officiating.

Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5-7:00 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.  Interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Raymond.

Ruth L. Johnson was born July 29, 1910 in Spencer, Iowa to George and Pearl (Harback) Gruchow.  She attended school in Watson, MN.  Ruth was united in marriage to George Jorgenson on July 21, 1929 and they farmed in rural Montevideo.  On June 3, 1957 she was united in marriage to Burton Johnson and they lived in Minneapolis until retirement.  Ruth worked for a couple of laundry and dry cleaners.  She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, gardening, quilting and being with her family.  She crocheted a lot of baby caps for the hospital.  Ruth enjoyed Seniors Day at church.

She is survived by four sons: Richard Jorgenson, Gerhardt Jorgenson and his wife Bonnie, Roger Jorgenson and his wife Glennis, all of Montevideo, MN, and Jerome Jorgenson and his wife Dorothy of Fairmont, MN; two daughters: Virginia Ruppe and her husband Stan of Owatonna, MN and Karen Aeikens and her husband Eldon of Maynard, MN; one step-daughter, Karla Van Vleit of Atwater, MN; 13 grandchildren;  23 great-grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 10 step great-grandchildren; 4 step great-great-grandchildren and two sisters: Clarice Gilbertson and Marie Weckwerth both of Montevideo, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Burton; one brother, Howard Gruchow; one sister, Beulah Olson; and two infant daughters.
