Ruth Meisner, of Montevideo, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 95.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Rev. Keith Brustuen will officiate, and entombment will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens in Montevideo. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
Ruth Louise Wilking was born May 21, 1923 to Gerd and Anna (Winters) Wilking. She was baptized and confirmed at Zachaens Lutheran Church in Canby, MN. Ruth was united in marriage to Harold Meisner on October 21, 1942, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Together they had two children.
Ruth spent much of her life working in healthcare. She worked as a dietary aid, nurses aid, and in the physical therapy department at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital. Ruth was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she participated in Bible study and LWML. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, watching her martin bird house, and spending time at her lake home on Lake Scandinavia. Ruth was well known for baking and cooking, especially for her fried chicken and 23 different Christmas cookies. She had a love for her family and will be missed dearly.
Ruth is survived by her two children; James (Donna) Meisner, of Montevideo, and Terry (Kenneth) Bents, of Clara City; seven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren, and one on the way; two sisters, Lucille Negaurd, of Canby, and Dorothy Eggers, of Montevideo; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold; parents; two brothers in infancy; two sisters, Alice Bresson, and Irene Coy/Stanford; and brother, Clarence “Buddy” Wilking.
