Ruth Thompson, of Maynard, died on Saturday, April 27, 2002 at the Clara City Nursing Home at the age of 94.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at 10:00 A.M. at the Maynard Presbyterian Church with Rev. Beverly Crute officiating. Burial will be in the Leenthrop Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. The family will be present from 6-7:00 P.M. and there will be a prayer service at 7:00 P.M.
Ruth Christine (Vanstrom) Thompson was born on October 28, 1907 in Clarkfield, MN to John and Carolyn (Swenson) Vanstrom. She was baptized and confirmed at First English Lutheran Church in Clarkfield. Ruth graduated for Clarkfield High School in 1925. On May 10, 1931 she was united in marriage to Frank M. Thompson in Clinton, MN. They lived on a farm near Maynard and moved into town in 1958. Ruth was bookkeeper at the Maynard Creamery for 16 years. She was a member of a garden club, Green Feather Whist Club, and Senior Citizens. She enjoyed reading, playing whist, and watching game shows on television. Ruth served as financial secretary, as a Sunday School teacher, and in the women’s association at Maynard Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by one son, Paul Thompson and his wife Kari of Spicer, MN; one daughter, Susan Thompson of Maynard, MN; 3 grandchildren: Scott (Connie) Thompson of Willmar, MN, Julie (Pat) Ford of West Des Moines, IA, and Matt (Angela) Thompson of Richmond, MN; and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank in 1986; one grandson, Robert; one
sister, Lucille Johnson; and two brothers: Earle and Vernon Vanstrom.
