Ruth Williamson

July 20, 1924 — February 28, 2015

Ruth Williamson, of Milan, died on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Appleton Care Center in Appleton, MN at the age of 90.

Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Rev. Kristine Isder officiating.  Interment will be in Kviteseid Lutheran-Milan Methodist Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to services on Saturday.

Ruth Arlene (Steensland) Williamson was born July 20, 1924 in Chippewa County to Arthur and Ruth (Retrum) Steensland).  She was baptized and confirmed at the Milan Methodist Church.  She attended District 49 Grade School and Milan High School.  She was united in marriage to Marvin Godfrey Heimdahl on June 26, 1941 at the Milan Methodist Church.  To this union, six children were born.  Ruth was later united in marriage to Abe Williamson.  She was a wonderful farm wife and mother.  She was generous, hardworking, and a great cook.  She loved golfing, playing cards, traveling, gardening, and wintering in warm climates.  Ruth was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, Homemaker’s Club, and she was a Den Mother.

She is survived by three children; Bruce (Linda) Heimdahl of Otis, OR, Judy (Dick) Jorgenson of Sun City, AZ, and Gary (Kim) Heimdahl of Dawson, MN; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren;  three great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husbands, Godfrey and Abe; special friend, Stan Okness; her sons: Alan and Lyle Heimdahl; a daughter, Janet Zaun; a son-in-law, Harlan Eid; brothers: Lloyd and Ole Steensland; and sisters: Florence Arnold and Edith Lea.
