Sandra Ellen (Bacon) Nelson was born on January 31, 1941, at home in Dawson, MN, to Norman and Eldona (Schule) Bacon. She was baptized on May 21, 1941, at Trinity Lutheran Church and was confirmed September 16, 1956, at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson.
The day after high school graduation she left Dawson and went to Minneapolis, MN, where she worked the summer for American Linen Supply Company. In the fall, she enrolled in Minneapolis Business College for one year. She then went to work at Northwestern National Life Insurance Company of Minneapolis.
On December 22, 1962, she was united in marriage to David Nelson and to this union two children were born: Sherri and Lori. Sandy quit work to be with the girls while they were young. After five years she went back to work at Northwestern National Life Insurance Co. She lived in Circle Pines, MN, for 10 years and moved back to Dawson, where she helped her parents with the family business, The Dawson Sentinel. In 1979, she married Dennis Nelson of Dawson.
Sandra died on Monday evening, September 20, 1999, at her home in Dawson at the age of 58.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis Nelson; children: Sherri (Steven) Melbostad of Shakopee, Lori Nelson of Dawson, Paul (Jenny) Nelson of Hendricks, and Tammara (Frank) Heineken of Odessa; grandchildren: Trisha, Derek, Darin, Frankie, Ryan, Dustin, Miranda, Brooke, and Alexis; mother, Eldona Bacon of Dawson; brothers: David Bacon of Forest Lake and Terry Bacon of Dawson; sister, Becky Bacon of Eden Prairie; several nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and father, Norman Bacon.
