Sandra Sulflow of Montevideo died on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at her home in Montevideo at the age of 65.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Johns Lutheran Church, rural Montevideo with Rev. Kent Borglum officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Church of Havelock Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 5-7 PM at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Sandra (Flickinger) Sulflow was born in Willmar, MN to Walter and Marcia (Steffen) Flickinger on September 5, 1952. The family lived in the Raymond, St. Bonifacius and Montevideo area as well as in Arizona at different times. She also would care for her younger brother and sister. Sandra was united in marriage to Eugene Sulflow on September 27, 1969 in Montevideo. They had four children together. They lived on a farm northeast of Montevideo before moving into Montevideo in 1974. Sandra worked at a variety of jobs in Montevideo. She worked at Luther Haven Nursing Home as a nurses aid, a florist for Heather Floral and Montevideo Greenhouse, and at Jennie-o and Caseys.
Sandra was a master flower gardener who especially liked wild flowers. She also was a very creative person and spent time painting and coloring. Family recalls that she was a “spunky” gal who would say what she thought, especially to grandchildren. She was extremely proud to be a grandma and a great-grandma.
Sandra is survived by her children: Toni (Jim) Hofmann, Dawson, MN, Stephanie (Judd) Deslanders, Boyd, MN, Adam (Jill) Sulflow, Montevideo, MN and Noel (Dawn) Sulflow, Boyd, MN; thirteen grandchildren: Amber (Shawn) VanVickle, Zachary (Shelby) and Lauren Munsterman, Chase, Yale, Tayte and Aisha Hofmann, Tucker, Logan, and Corbin Sulflow, and Wyatt, Conner and Kylie Dann; three great-grandchildren: Payten, Shawn and Marley VanVickle; siblings: Howard (Linda) Flickinger, Montevideo, Perry (Ruby) Flickinger, Montevideo, Jay Flickinger, Arkansas, and Carmen (Duane) Rickert, Montevideo; mother-in-law, Gerry Sulflow as well as nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eugene, a brother, Steve Flickinger, a brother and sister in infancy, father-in-law, Leonard Sulflow; sister-in-law, Helen Flickinger as well as other extended family.
