Selma "Sally" Rau died February 8, 2008 at Rosewood in Montevideo, MN at the age of 95. Funeral services will be at conducted on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald S. McKee officiating. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 PM and with a prayer service at 6:45 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Sally Amanda (Lund) Rau was born on May 26, 1912, in Lake Shore Township of Lac qui Parle County, MN to Gustav and Josephine (Halvorson) Lund. She was baptized on June 30, 1912 at Hegre Lutheran Church in Lac qui Parle County. She was the eldest of five children (one of whom died in infancy). Her father died when she was nine. On November 21, 1926, she was confirmed at Minnesota Valley Lutheran Church in Lac qui Parle County. She complete two years of secondary school at Madison Lutheran Norman School in Madison, MN and graduated from Appleton High School in 1930. She received a BS in Music from St. Olaf College on June 5, 1934. On July 21, 1934 she was united in marriage to Arthur W. Rau in Madison, MN. They lived in Hegbert Township in Swift County, MN; Northfield, MN; Minneapolis, MN; and the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C., before moving to Montevideo in 1943 to open a tire and appliance business. She kept the accounts for the business and later performed similar functions for Johnson & Blank Accounting, the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital and for Our Saviors Lutheran Church. She also taught public school for one year. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. She had played softball, was a church organist and was a rabid Twins fan. She enjoyed tatting and listening to classical music and going to concerts. She is survived by her son Lee (and Jan) Rau of Reston, VA; her son-in-law, Lyle Schrapp of St. Cloud, MN; grandsons: Kenneth (and Patty) Schrapp of St. Louis Park, MN, Kevin (and Maureen) Schrapp of Andover, MN, Brendan Rau of Reston, VA, Patrick Rau of Boca Raton, FL and Brian Rau of Colorado Springs, CO; great-grandchildren: Matthew, Kara, and Jenna Schrapp and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Art in 1970; a daughter, JoAnn Schrapp in 1997; and by four brothers: Jennings, Joseph, Glenn and Ole in infancy.
