Selmer "Sam" Haugen

September 22, 1901 — October 15, 1992


Selmer "Sam" Haugen, 91, of Montevideo died October 15, 1992 at Willmar Regional Treatment Center in Willmar, MN.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 1992 at 2:00 P.M. at Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.  Rev. Norman Aaronson will officiate and interment will be at St. Petri Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday afternoon and evening and until the time of services on Tuesday.

Selmer Gudvin Haugen was born September 22, 1901 in Camp Release Township, Lac Qui Parle County, MN the son of the late Ole and Karen (Belsaas) Haugen.  He attended rural school and later went to the Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis.  Selmer then returned to Lac Qui Parle County where he farmed.  He moved into Montevideo in the early 1970's and lived at the Park Hotel and Brookside Manor before moving to Clarkfield Nursing Home in 1986.  Sam sang in the Fiesta City Chorus for several years.

He is survived by two sisters: Evelyn Hendrickson of Seattle, WA and Anna Haugen of Montevideo, MN and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers: Halvor and Olaf; and two sisters: Marie Estling and Esther Sundlee.
