Shannon (Schilling) Mcclure

December 11, 1968 — July 22, 2012

Shannon Lee (Sunni) McClure, of Dawson, died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson at the age of 43 after a courageous six month battle with cancer.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Dawson Covenant Church, rural Dawson.  Pastor Erik Carlson will officiate and interment will be in the Dawson Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 5-7:00 PM at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.

Shannon Lee McClure was born December 11, 1968 at Dawson, MN.  She was baptized on March 9th 1969 at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson.  She attended Sunday school and church at the Church of the Nazarene in Dawson until it closed.  She attended nursery school thru 5th grade at Dawson-Boyd Elementary School, 6th grade at Madison Elementary School, 7th thru 12th grade at Dawson-Boyd High School, graduating in 1987.  She then attended Hutchinson Technical College studying for a degree in the care of the disabled and elderly.  Shannon had a passion for working with and helping others in need.  After graduation she worked as a Human Services Technician at a group home in Canby for several years and was most recently working for Health Providers, Inc.  in Montevideo. She also worked part time during tax seasons at Dawson Tax Service.

Shannon enjoyed spending time with her beloved Grandma Eldora (Kosmalski) and her nieces and nephews.  Shannon also enjoyed reading, music, and writing letters.   She also liked to write poetry and stories.  Shannon loved animals, most especially cats.  Her cat, Snuggles, was very special to her.

She is survived by her parents, Rosalie (Kosmalski) and Neil Schilling of Dawson; a brother, Jacob Schilling and his wife Mikie and two daughters Ava and Allie of Moore, OK; a sister, Crystal (Schilling) Pool and her husband Max and two sons Eban and Liam of West Fargo, ND; an uncle, Harlan Kosmalski and his wife Sue of Dawson; and their daughter Denise and her husband Brian Meyer of Lecenter, MN.

Preceding her in death were her grandparents and a cousin, Robbie Kosmalski.
